THE KEY MUTZAAD
LINE 1: "THIS KEY UNLOCKS THE DOOR THAT OPENS POEMS FOR EARTH AND THE QUODLIBET"
Every sacred text has a threshold, and here we are handed the key. This isn’t metaphorical fluff—this is the clear statement that without understanding this text, you will misunderstand Poems for Earth and The Quodlibet. Without this key, the Book may remain shut to you—not in form, but in meaning. This key is epistemological, theological, and moral. It determines what kind of eyes and heart you need to rightly approach JAH’S BOOK.
The key doesn’t just open a book—it opens a door. This is temple imagery. What lies beyond is sacred space, and only those who carry the key may pass. This text is the gatekeeper of spiritual understanding. It clears the fog of false assumptions about GOD so that the reader may encounter the REALITY of JAH, unfiltered and undistorted.
LINE 2: "Hear and understand right now:"
This imperative is thunderous. Hear—open your ears. Understand—engage your reason. Right now—not tomorrow, not when you’re ready, not once you’ve finished seminary or deconstructed everything. Now. This is the tone of the prophets. It is also the urgency of love, the plea of a parent grabbing your shoulders and making you look them in the eyes.
This isn’t poetry for its own sake. This is urgent, corrective theology.
LINE 3: "GOD is not a hypocrite."
This strikes at the heart of religious abuse. People have been told by preachers, priests, and parents that GOD demands what THEY THEMSELVES violate. That GOD hates who THEY secretly are. That GOD will punish what THEY themselves do behind closed doors. This line clears the rot: JAH is not like those who have used HIS name falsely. JAH practices what HE preaches. JAH is integrity embodied.
This line restores trust in the Divine. It tells the abused and betrayed: the hypocrisy you’ve seen was not God. That was man.
LINE 4: "GOD is not a bigot."
This line is pure fire. It burns away centuries of religiously-sanctioned racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia. It is a call to spiritual sanity. Bigotry is a human disease, and it has been blasphemously attributed to God. This line denies that lie.
If your theology requires an enemy group to hate, then you are not reading JAH’S BOOK—you are reading your own reflection in a black mirror.
This also tells the reader: if you yourself are bigoted, you are at odds with the GOD you claim to serve. There is no righteous hate.
LINE 5: "GOD is not a white male."
Let this sentence ring like a bell over every steeple that ever painted Christ with European features. GOD transcends race and gender. This is not a dig at white males—it is a correction of the idolatry that has conflated white patriarchy with Divinity.
This line liberates the marginalized. It dethrones the false idol of Western imperial Christendom. It tells the child in a brown body or the girl in a stolen land: GOD does not look like your oppressor.
This is not just liberation theology—it is truth.
LINE 6: "GOD is not a Republican."
Controversial only to those who have made a political party into a sacrament. This line stands against all forms of spiritual nationalism and political idolatry. The point is not to say GOD is a Democrat or leftist. The point is: GOD is not a party platform.
When you reduce GOD to a Republican, you make a graven image of GOD out of policy and prejudice. This line blows the trumpet against that.
LINE 7: "GOD is not a pedophile."
This is both a statement of theology and a lament. The church has hidden and protected abusers. Many have equated the authority of priests and pastors with the voice of God—only to be violated. This line says: That was not GOD.
This is one of the most holy lines in the Midrosh. It speaks directly to victims of clergy abuse. It draws a hard, bright line between the GOD who loves and heals—and the evil done in HIS name.
It also affirms that JAH’S LAW will never condone the abuse of children. That those who speak for JAH must be clean in love and motive.
LINE 8: "GOD is not your birth father."
Personal. Painful. Liberating. Many carry the trauma of abusive, neglectful, or absent fathers—and they project that pain onto GOD. This line severs that projection.
GOD is not the man who hit you. GOD is not the man who left. GOD is not the one who made you feel worthless. GOD is not your birth father.
This opens the door to a new relationship with GOD—one based not on fear or duty, but on LOVE, healing, and truth.
LINE 9: "GOD is LOVE and TRUTH."
Here is the positive declaration that all the denials have pointed toward. This is the YES that follows the NO. LOVE is the nature of GOD. TRUTH is the action of GOD.
This is not abstract sentiment—it is the nature and law of the universe. LOVE is not optional. TRUTH is not negotiable. These are not attributes of GOD—they are who GOD is.
And so the KEY concludes where all doors must open: with LOVE and TRUTH standing side by side. The lock clicks open.
THEOLOGICAL REFLECTION:
The Key strips away the false images of GOD that religion, politics, culture, and trauma have embedded in us.
It confronts the idolatry of race, gender, nation, and abuse—and it calls it out by name.
It leaves the reader no room for hate disguised as holiness.
SPIRITUAL APPLICATION:
Write down your own false images of GOD—then read this text aloud over them.
Let it rewire your spiritual vision.
Repeat the final line as a mantra: GOD is LOVE and TRUTH.
FINAL REFLECTION: If you do not understand this text, the rest of the Book will remain closed to you. You may read the words, but they will twist in your mouth. This key is not academic—it is ethical. Not abstract—it is vital.
To receive The Midrosh, to receive Poems for Earth and The Quodlibet, you must first release your idols. This is the condition for hearing the voice of JAH: that you stop mistaking your wounds, politics, fears, or culture for GOD.
Let the key turn. Let the door swing open. Let the voice of LOVE and TRUTH speak freely at last.
Amen.
